Maryland Grand Lamb Cook-Off
Enter your favorite lamb recipe in the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival's Twenty-Sixth Annual Maryland Grand Lamb Cook-Off.
Quick & Easy Recipes 2009
No ranges at the Festival. Show us your simmered,sautéed or grilled dishes. Be creative!
Rules
- A minimum of 1 lb. of any cut of American lamb must be used.
- All entries will be judged on flavor (40 points), appearance (20 points), originality (30 points) and ease of preparation (10 points).
- This year's Quick and Easy recipes are limited to 5 ingredients in addition to the lamb, and no more than 15 minute preparation time. See our supporting documentation Cookoff.doc on the web for all the rules and recipe format.
- Prior to the Cook-Off, up to ten finalists will be selected from the entries. Contestants under age 18 are encouraged to enter, and will be judged under adapted rules.
- The finalists will be invited to prepare their recipes for the judges at the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival on Sunday, May 3, 2009.
- Each finalist will be provided with a 110 volt electric outlet and table space. One gas grill will be provided by the contest staff (outside). Finalists must furnish their own electric cooking appliances. microwaves or other equipment, utensils and serving materials to present their entries to the judges. No ovens or ranges will be provided.
- Cooking may commence no earlier than 11 AM and the final product must be delivered to the judges no later than 2 PM.
- Each finalist will provide table settings for two judges.
- No beverages will be allowed. Ice water will be provided for the judges.
- Serving sizes will be one-fourth the normal serving portion.

- All finalists will receive prizes provided by the Maryland Sheep Breeders Association.
How to Enter
- Type or print your recipe on an 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of paper. The recipe must be original and not previously published in print or online. you must submit electronically in a Word document.
- List all ingredients in order used, no brand names. No more than 5 ingredients, in addition to American Lamb. Salt, pepper and water are not counted.
- List preparation and exact cooking instructions.
- Provide your name, address, home phone, work phone, email address and the name of your recipe.
- Mail entries by April 3, 2009 to the address below.
